NFL Conference Championship Playoffs! Weather appears not to be a factor for these games, both stadiums are open air, and game time temperatures will be moderate, in the low forties, great football weather. Home field has value this weekend, traveling can be disruptive, and the locals know where the visiting teams stay. 

The Patriots will be ready for the altitude, Belichick will make sure of that, and Brady will be fired up to get to another Superbowl. The Broncos are home with Manning motivated. There's speculation that Peyton will retire if he wins the Superbowl.  New England is favored, they have an uphill battle, but should prevail. The Panthers are perfect at home this year, and Newton is healthy and ready for the Cardinals. Arians will turn Palmer loose, no more conservative play, and this might play into Carolina's strength. The Panthers should move on to the Superbowl.

NFL Divisional Playoffs! Now it's really time to fish or cut bait. Last week the DoverPro NFL Picks went 3-0-1 ATS and 4-0 SU in a tough week to handicap, and this week is even tougher. The spreads seem high, and may change, and there are some key player injury questions for almost every game.

The NFL Straight Up picks are with the well rested and well prepared home teams this weekend. Home field advantage and not having to travel can be worth a few points. As for the ATS Picks, there is an NFL betting slant that says that a road team in the Divisional Round getting points has value. This idea devalues the home field and values a road win in the Wild Card round, and assumes the odds makers overcompensate.  I am going with some of these road dogs for the moment, but I will definitely update these picks as the injury picture clears up. 

The final NCAA college picks results are posted, and the ATS record was pretty poor this year. Although 6 of those ATS games missed by 2 or less points, they lost. On the other hand the Totals picks went great, and the SU picks were excellent. You can see the results at the link below. Next year some adjustments will be made to the system to address this fact. At least I called the CFP game correctly.

Whew, a great NFL Football Weekend. The Divisional Playoffs always seem to bring a major surprise and we sure got one this time around.  Denver losing was a shock, certainly to most of the public. There is a rumor about Peyton Manning nursing an unreported long term injury, causing some controversy. The other games went pretty much as predicted, but sure made for good football! The final teams for the SuperBowl are shaping up, but there is one last hitch. They have to win on Sunday to get there. 

The NFL Conference Championships 2015 Outlaw Line, the favored home teams look strong for the win again, with the Patriots likely for the win and cover over the Colts, and the Packers should be able to keep it close against the Seahawks. But you never know, and a favorable bounce could put Green Bay in the SuperBowl!

Final NFL Divisional Playoff Week 19 Football Picks for the week are posted. Divisional Playoffs are a different brand of football. In the past, home teams usually won. In fact since 1990 Divisional Playoff hosts win at a 73% clip. However, since 2006, the top seeds are 8-8 SU and 3-13 ATS in the divisional playoff games. Makes for some tough picking, and a great weekend of NFL Football! 

For this round, the home teams all get the nod for the SU win, The Patriots, Seahawks, Packers and Broncos all should make their fans happy. The ATS Picks are more of a challenge, since the oddsmakers have set some questionable spreads. Right now, the road dog Ravens look strong for the cover, they should keep it close at New England, and the Seahawks giving 11 look strong for the cover over the Panthers. The Broncos also should cover the Colts on Sunday, while the Packers may struggle against the Cowboys. There will be some updates plus teasers posted on the weekend.

What a Wild Card Weekend! As usual the first round of the playoffs provided some surprises and some great football. In the Divisional Round, the matchups are a bit more lopsided, and the quality teams with playoff experience tend to do well.

For the NFL Divisional Round Playoffs, the Seahawks offer good value for the win and cover against the road dog Saints, the Brady Bunch Patriots in a very close one for a win over the road dog Colts, the Chargers will be starved for oxygen and points in the mile high city, Broncos offer good value for the win and cover, and the home dog Panthers should get the win over the 49ers. Best game of weekend? 49ers at Panthers.

Football! Playoffs! And cold weather, especially in Green Bay. 

The NFL Wild Card Playoffs look to have some great matchups this weekend, the Saints should keep it close visiting the Eagles, maybe pull out a last  minute victory. The highly favored Bengals at home may not dominate the Chargers as much as the oddsmakers predict, the Colts hosting the Chiefs is very close, and while the 49ers should dominate the home dog Packers, never count Rogers out, with frigid conditions hampering both teams.

And that final late Sunday game is a strong Fade the Public opportunity, as well as a classic Small Underdogs at Home chance. I am going light on it for now, check back over the weekend.

Playoffs! NFL Wild Card Weekend is here! And some surprises in the teams that made it, including a very controversial call that sent the wrong team home.  At some point, the NFL has to find a way to control this, there are simply too many games decided by the officials.

For years the wild card weekend was simple to handicap, just pick all the home teams and you were pretty much guaranteed to go 3-1. Now with some very weak divisions, you have some weaker home teams. The Packers even at home may get blown out by the 49ers, and the Eagles look to struggle against the Saints, this one could be an upset.

Wild Card Weekend NFL Playoff Picks ATS Totals Predictions

NFL Wild Card Weekend, some great football to watch Saturday and Sunday.

Some NFL betting trends for the NFL Wild Card Playoffs  to consider.

Home dogs are 13-4 ATS since 1978.

Wild Card Games tend to the under. The last 10 years there have seen 14 overs and 26 unders, with the recent games 14 of 20 games going under the final points total.

The break seems to be 45 points. Games total points for 45 or higher gave us 5 overs and 8 unders in the last ten years. 3 overs and 6 unders over the past 5 years.

Some Team Trends:

Cincinnati is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Houston.

Minnesota is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Green Bay.
Baltimore is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Indianapolis overall and 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games when playing at home against Indianapolis.
Seattle is 2-5-1 ATS in its last 8 games when playing Washington, and 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Washington. Washington is 6-2 straight up in its last 8 games when playing Seattle.

So do we buck the trends or not? Last year all the home teams won, The home favorites all covered big time, and the only home dog ( at -9 ) won SU by 6. Did the oddsmakers adjust this year?

Note, There will be an update for a teaser and I am undecided right now about Seattle at Washington, I think the Seahawks will dominate, but I can't bring myself to go against RGIII and the Redskins streak.

NFL Conference Championship Playoffs Picks 2012

Hi Football Fans! Updated

Wow! The Divsional Playoffs were some of the most exciting contests of the year, no disappointments in the action, although a lot of fans are wondering whether the real Packers missed the bus.

Now for the Superbowl Showdown, only two teams move on after this week and they play for all the marbles. These are a couple tough games to handicap, I expect all the teams will play tight, and a lot of the public cappers like the Giants for the win and cover. I'm going light across the board for now, I am just not sure I have a good handle on this game.

Will it be a Brother Jim Verses Brother John Superbowl? I don't see it that way. Brady is Red Hot, was it Tebow-Phobia or will he stay on the streak? In games like these, emotion and drive can overcome a lot of shortcomings, and I think we will see some more great football again in the Week 20 Playoffs.

Wow, the NFL Playoffs look to be pretty exciting this year, only a few more weeks to the Superbowl!

Traditionally Wild Card teams on the road do not fair well, for years all you had to do was pick the home teams and you were almost certainly a 3-1 winner. These days it is a bit different with some teams backing in, like the Denver Broncos, or creeping in, like the Detroit Lions. SU moneyline, I like the home teams Saturday and the road teams Sunday. For ATS Playoffs Picks, the system says only the Texans cover.
