NFL Conference Championship Playoffs! Weather appears not to be a factor for these games, both stadiums are open air, and game time temperatures will be moderate, in the low forties, great football weather. Home field has value this weekend, traveling can be disruptive, and the locals know where the visiting teams stay. 

The Patriots will be ready for the altitude, Belichick will make sure of that, and Brady will be fired up to get to another Superbowl. The Broncos are home with Manning motivated. There's speculation that Peyton will retire if he wins the Superbowl.  New England is favored, they have an uphill battle, but should prevail. The Panthers are perfect at home this year, and Newton is healthy and ready for the Cardinals. Arians will turn Palmer loose, no more conservative play, and this might play into Carolina's strength. The Panthers should move on to the Superbowl.

NFL Divisional Playoffs! Now it's really time to fish or cut bait. Last week the DoverPro NFL Picks went 3-0-1 ATS and 4-0 SU in a tough week to handicap, and this week is even tougher. The spreads seem high, and may change, and there are some key player injury questions for almost every game.

The NFL Straight Up picks are with the well rested and well prepared home teams this weekend. Home field advantage and not having to travel can be worth a few points. As for the ATS Picks, there is an NFL betting slant that says that a road team in the Divisional Round getting points has value. This idea devalues the home field and values a road win in the Wild Card round, and assumes the odds makers overcompensate.  I am going with some of these road dogs for the moment, but I will definitely update these picks as the injury picture clears up. 

The final NCAA college picks results are posted, and the ATS record was pretty poor this year. Although 6 of those ATS games missed by 2 or less points, they lost. On the other hand the Totals picks went great, and the SU picks were excellent. You can see the results at the link below. Next year some adjustments will be made to the system to address this fact. At least I called the CFP game correctly.

NFL Playoff Football! Win or go home. It's all on the line for these teams this weekend on the journey to the Superbowl! Regardless of how they got here, they are in the NFL Playoffs. And football gets tough this week.  I expect to see some close games both days, and these matchups will be fun to watch.  Playoff experience counts, teams that have been there before tend to do better than the newcomers, but anything can and usually does happen in the playoffs.

The NFL Straight Up picks favor the visitors mostly, unusual in the Wild Card round, and the ATS picks mostly follow the line. The oddsmakers line this year has been one to the most accurate predictors of SU wins and ATS covers, and it looks to me like these games are pretty well handicapped. The probability percentages this week don't show any great value picks, so I am going a bit light on the units for the picks.

The REDSKINS will definitely rest the starters, the Seahawks are likely also, the Patriots say they won't. Sunday will be an interesting day! For straight up picks, it looks like the Patriots, Panthers and Steelers should all get wins.  In the ATS Picks, the Bengals, Chiefs and Texans top the list to cover at home.

NFL Football! Final Picks for Week 17 are posted. 

The College Bowl Picks are updated through this morning and it looks like they will end up in positive units across the board. The Playoffs start tonight! In the Orange Bowl at 4:00 PM Est  Oklahoma (4) takes on Clemson (1) and later in the Cotton Bowl at 8:00 PM. Michigan State faces Alabama. In the first game the Sooners are favored over the Tigers by 4, and it looks to be a close game, with the Sooners picked to win it, and likely cover the spread.  The second game has the Crimson Tide favored by 10 over the Spartans, it should be closer than that, Alabama is the better team, MSU is the luckier team. Keeping it close, a Spartan lucky bounce could bring about an upset.

For the final week of the NFL 2015 season a couple teams may rest their key players so I have made some notes on the ATS Picks Page. It was a very tough week for picks in the NFL with so many lopsided games, sometimes the time is right for an unexpected upset of strong public favorites. So I am going a bit light this week.

In NFL Week 5, the Straight Up picks have good value, it looks like a good week for the top home teams, the Packers, Chiefs, Ravens and Falcons all look very strong for the home win this week.  In the ATS predictions, Denver still looks strong for the cover at Oakland and the Packers should cover the visiting Rams.  Upsets? Maybe the Jaguars at the Bucs, and the Lions will be desperate for a win.

In the NCAAF College Football Picks for Week 6 straight up Top Hot Picks, Mississippi looks to be a sure lock at home against New Mexico State, Baylor should easily get the win on the road at Kansas, and Ohio State looks unbeatable at home hosting Maryland.  In the NCAAF ATS picks, Appalachian State should win and cover on the road at Georgia St, while Kansas should also cover at home against heavily favored Baylor, and Toledo look good as a home favorite for the cover over Kent State.

Week 5 already! Nearly a quarter of the regular season over, and a lot of surprises every week. Monday Night the Curse of Bobby Layne sure seemed to haunt the Lions again, costing them a game and giving the Seahawks a home win.

There are some strong value picks, teams that have a reason to win mostly do so, teams that have a need to win, often do not.  Straight up, some favored home teams are highly probable to please the crowds, the Broncos, Ravens and Patriots should all get the victories.  Against the Spread, two home favorites,  the Patriots, and the Dolphins, are high probability for the wins. The Colts also look strong, but may take a day of rest on Sunday. Upset? The Eagles have a great shot for the SU win.

Final NFL and NCAA Football Picks for the week are posted.  

This is a tough week for the NFL Week 11 picks, but there are some value selections. For the Moneyline Picks the Chargers should easily prevail over the visiting Raiders, the Broncos should get the win over the home dog Rams, and the Saints look good for the victory over the visiting Bengals, but it may be a close one. For the ATS predictions, the Chargers should also cover at home, the 49ers look good for the cover visiting the Giants, and Big Ben and the Steelers look good for the cover over the home dog Titans. 

In the NCAAF Week 12, moneyline picks are home favorites BYU and Western Michigan and TCU should win on the road at Kansas. All three offer good value.  The college football ATS Picks are topped off by a high value pick, Ball State to cover at Massachusetts, Oklahoma to cover over  Texas Tech, and LSU as a road dog to cover at Arkansas.

Final NFL and NCAA Football Picks for the week are posted.  

In NFL Week 9,  the Moneyline Picks are home favorite standouts, the Seahawks, the 49ers and the Bengals all should make the home team fans happy. For the ATS predictions, the home favorite Bengals should cover the Jaguars, the Seahawks should cover hosting the road dog Raiders, both games offer good value.  The Chargers may just win outright in a close game visiting the home favorite Dolphins.

 

In the NCAAF Week 9, the home favorites top the list of moneyline picks, led by Texas A&M, Baylor and Ohio State. The ATS Picks are topped off by a road favorite, Duke, and two home favorites, Georgia Tech and Nevada.

Hi Football Fans!

Final NFL and NCAA Football Picks for the week are posted. Keep in mind the system requires a few weeks of  statistics to develop. 

For NFL Week 4 moneyline predictions, the Chargers and the Steelers have good value as do the Falcons. Topping the ATS NFL Picks the home team Charges and Steelers look very strong to cover, and the Patriots on the road should bounce back.  For an upset, I'm still on the Bears bandwagon, at home they could just beat the Pack. 


In the NCAAF Week 5 straight up predictions, home teams look to dominate the picks, Wisconsin, LSU and Kansas State head the list. In the NCAAF ATS predictions, Oklahoma State at home over Texas Tech is the best bet and UCLA on the road should cover.
